I got sick again (remember to add translations :3)
Still pretty sick but I have a question about On/Kun readings of Kanji OxO How do I know which On/Kun I use when reading D: getsu, gatsu / tsuki are pretty easy so far.. but the kanji for sun.. gets confusing ono it shows up twice in the momotaru story... first time it meant one thing the second time another thing.. thanks to the kana next it it so far i know which reading i was 'reading' but.. what if I come across a kanji with multiple On/Kun readings and they dont have the kana there @-@ I know the Kanji for: River Mountain Tree Forest Moon Sun Money ^-^! OOOH speaking of 'okane' I took a look at a manga cover Okane ga nai! at the end of nai there was a small つ next to it x.x, お金がない (No Money) I can't figure out how they got the mini つ there D:

I know a little Japanese and I have practice writing some words in Japanese as well. I even used some of it to create my cosplay outfits.

I learned a little bit of Japanese through some apps for my ipod. It's kind of hard to learn without a teacher and just through an app, but so far I can say a few things

try japanesepop101 their videos and audio lessons are REALLY helpful ... at least for me.. its whats worked best so far..
Thanks to them I am almost finished learning my Kana and I know a few Kanji.. though I'm gonna need to review their one set of Kanji lessons.. the one Kanji they said meant 'bright' .. my Kanji a Day pack says its something else >x< and that bright has a different kanji x.x, other then that i'm doing good.. I got the days of the week, all 12 months and numbers 1-12 memorized xD

I just downloaded it :) I'm hoping it gets a little easier to understand. They don't teach Japanese at my school, only spanish and german, so currently this is the only way I can learn it

My school was Spanish and French.. and the only way to get into a foreign language class was to get good grades in English class.. which I failed in xD my grammar is so bad.

Aw I'm sorry to hear that.
Are you feeling better now? And sorry for disappearing. I did after everyone else did. But I'm also battling finding a job teaching overseas and a long standing battle of depression at the same time. As for On/Kun... it deals with vocabulary mostly. Memorize it. But after you speak it and listen to it for some time, you will recognize it if you say it outloud. It will sound funny to you. That's how I normally find out. But I also make mistakes. I make sure to pronounce it with someone I know or I use the kanji to romaji converter I have bookmarked. And you learn that sometimes it isn't either the on/kun reading. sometimes its a specific kanji combo that is special to only that combo. and don't worry about coming across something that you may not be able to read - it happens to me ALL the time. it's part of learning the culture and language. All I can tell you is to ask questions. That's the best way to go about it. And congrats!! That's good so far! =D so you mean "お金がないっ"? If so it means "No money!" It shows an abrupt stop to be more precise but a lot of times people substitute in an exclamation mark for it. @kyza/tetra: welcome! if you have a question, please feel free to message me or skype me. my name on skype is shinkamalei as well. It may take a little time since I am busy but I will do my best to answer it the best I can. And if I can't answer it, I will ask my friends from Japan.

oo so thats what the small tsu at the end is ment for ouo thanks! that threw me for a loop there xD
Another thing I came across when watching an anime. I'm watching Cardcaptor Sakura right now . onoin the theme song I kept hearing yuke but the lyric on the screen said ike.. so I googled it oxo in romaji the part where they go "tonde tonde tonde yuke, KO-I-SHI-TE-RU" but in the kanji/hiragana version it has ike there x.x 飛んで飛んで飛んでいけ see? ono "いけ" is at the end! ike! but the romaji version has yuke.. =/ yu looks nothing like i 3< yu looks like a fish ono ゆ see ouo ish a fishy - the way its subtitled doesnt look like a fansub though =/

no problem.
and also - love that show xDD it was so much fun to watch when i was a kid. and it is yuke. the one you went to was not correct. almost ALL sides i went to put yuke. So I think it was just the websites. because it definitely was yuke. There is no mistaking it. http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/ccsakura/ccscycm.htm here is one example. there are many others that show it. but that is the japanese opening and even in that it says yuke.
