In response to your reply in the Library: There was a bunch-o-drama and we wound up going to a trunk-or-treat at a church not too far from my Great-granny's house. The kids had a blast, my littlest did pretty well. No major fits or anything, and she actually warmed up enough at the last car to take 2 Dum-dums from the bowl. I was proud of her, lol. We didn't do any real decorations. The pumpkins are still sitting on the kitchen table, untouched, because I couldn't get my hands on a pumpkin carving kit. I refuse to use regular kitchen knives (I have horrible luck with pointy objects...).
