My laptop was my macbook ;-; So not cheap to repair or replace >.<

I always brake PCs and I like the colors on macs better. I've had it for 5 years now and up until last night when it got wet it has never failed me! I'm really hoping it is ok. It was on but closed when it got wet and I wiped the top off and then opened it up and only the power button felt wet. It turned off but I don't know if water got in there or not. My photo albums also got ruined so I am waiting until those feel dry to try turning it back on.

Rice does work. So does popcorn. The problem is you might get it up under your keys.

Yes or in the ports. I read it was just a better idea not to use rice although silica packets would work. I don't have a car though . . . or any idea where to get that many silica packets ._.

I actually save silica packs for this reason! They come in vitamins, and all other types of weird things, Ijust put them in a little box for when (and if) I will need them. Hope your computer didn't break. I would be freaking out about it.

isn't that funny
rice generally only works for something soaking wet XD a lot of 'omg rice works' is psychosomatic. things naturally dry in climates that are not moist and if you believe your rice will dry it /faster/ and you have no measure of rice-in and riceless drying then you will feel deep within you that it helped when in reality it simply comforted you to have it XD

better do your best to take the thing in question apart, wipe it down gently and set the parts out to dry

I have always wondered whether rice is just a placebo, so to speak, and whether the item would just naturally dry in the same amount of time even if it wasn't in rice.

Well, the thing is that rice does help, but generally only make difference with pieces that have small and hard-to-reach places that would dry out quickly on their own. Like cellphones. Popcorn is another creature entirely, it wicks the moisture out of about anything, especially the air. That's why it gets spongy if you leave it out.

Progress report; file got corrupted, but I had a back up. While I did lose a few hours, it's more tedium than anything difficult. The hard parts have already been done.

Oh that is amazing! What is it going to be in the end. An alien?
That is very interesting about popcorn, never thought about the reason why it gets spongy. So it can be used like rice then?

It's going to be Miss Triste when I'm done.

Yes, it can. In fact, it does a better job in salt containers than rice, too.
