Oh my god this kid is me! Except I had a show dog and not coonhounds. Still, I'm enjoying the book.

I feel like they're both kind of on the same level, tbh. Although it's been ages since I've read either one. But they both make me shed quite a few tears, so...
And ugh, I am 100% slacking on my reading list. Like, I have not finished a single book yet. I have a few leftover from last year though that are close. So maybe I can get a few done before the month is over.

I'm thinking of adding a "shame list" which is all the books I've started for various reasons, and said I would finish, but have yet to do so.
I'm getting a little scared of this book now. I know it's going to end badly but things are starting a little sooner than I thought.

So the first reading challenge I ever picked up was done by the Library and Info Tech students association where I go to college. As I'm part of that association now, I'm going to bring it back! Anyone have ideas on what categories of book I can add?

I still haven't finished my second book. I'm getting scared of it though. I'm waiting for more bad things to happen.

Where the Red Fern Grows. One death already, but I'm pretty sure that's not the reason the book is famous for being a tear jerker.

Yeah, I've heard, but I've also heard it's a wonderful book. I'm hoping my being adult will help a little. I'm crafting a list of classic dogs books now, reading and re-reading things, (the local used bookstore has a copy of Big Red on hold for me ;)) and putting it on my member profile at my regional library. I'm also assembling a list of really big books that are worth reading. I've only got two on that so far.

Ow.
Ow. That...was painful. Pardon me while I get over the trauma and rethink my position on writing my own dog book.

I never read Where The Red Fern Grows, everyone that has read it said they cried so much. Its just so sad when an animal dies, I remember that movie, My Dog Skip, I sobbed and sobbed at the movie theater.
I just updated my reading list. I'm reading at a good clip so far this year!

I definitely watched Where the Red Fern grows before ever reading it, but even knowing what happens doesn't stop me from bawling like a baby.
I hate when animals die. The worst for me was when I had decided to watch Marley and Me and I actually didn't know anything about it except that it was a dog movie. Oh man, that one got me good. So many tears! I uh...still haven't finished any books, though I did read some a few days back... XP

I was prepared for the dogs dying but not how it was laid out. I could have handled Dan but oh God, Little Ann got me.
I don't think I regret reading the book. Having gone through a similar deal with my own dog I found it incredibly relateable, but the memories it brought up with my thoughts of maybe writing a book about my little dog makes me wonder if it's something I can emotionally handle. Like, it I wanted someone to understand how I felt about my dog, I'd suggest they read that book. Now I need to find a book for March.
