Casino Addiction | #1 | ||
I have a confession! The past two months, I have been going to the Casino! Not once, but multiple times. Yes, I know it's bad when you start to get addicted. At first, I was going with my brother for fun because I haven't gone in a few years. Then I started going by myself once a week, and it's not good. I'm trying to stop now because I always end up losing. I always win when I get to the casino, but after an hour later, I start losing everything that I won and the money I brought with me. The thought of winning money fast gets me going~ I understand that I'm taking chances by going there, but I keep having hopes that I'm going to win. Now, I'm trying to distract myself, and telling myself that's not worth it going there anymore. It's better if I just save my money...but it's so hard when you are starting to get addicted to something. The struggle is real, I really need to stop asap. Have you been to the Casino before? Were you addicted one time or multiple times in your life?

gamble on the stock market > casino
At least you have some salvage value when you sell stocks at a loss (and the loss is tax deductible up to a certain amount). In casinos, you get nothing back if you lose. But yeah, you're smart enough to know what you're getting into. I hope you snap out of it. dec 14 S A U C Y 「art by mdom〠✦✦✦

I'm not much into casinos myself, but do go a little nuts over claw games and have EASILY blown $100 or more on them this year. Mostly in the Clawee app.

It's not that no one wins money at a casino.
It's that, statistically, no one can turn a profit at a casino. The fact that some people win is the reason it's so addictive. Games by Coda (updated 4/15/2024 - New game: Call of Aether)

I played the keno machines with a coworker one night. Could have won $10 (started with $2, so an $8 profit), but decided to just keep going because she wasn't done yet and I had nothing else to do. XD

there's also addictive personalities -- those can play a big factor into how addicted you can get.

Speaking as someone who once worked in a casino, the odds are always stacked heavily in the house's favor. They have people whose specialties are in winning money for the house (I know this because I was one of them. I would be put on tables when the pit wanted to close down those tables for the night, because I handily won for the house pretty much every time I dealt) on the tables, and the slots aren't much better. Even if you figure out on slots which machines are "hot" or "cold", you're still going to spend much more than you'll win back.
I use She/Her and They/Them pronouns.
