Question for anyone who does art stuff... how you feel / handle that previous requests / commissions you've done are lower quality than what you can do now?
I was comparing a piece I just finished to one I did a couple months ago when I was just starting. Literally worlds different. I don't think it's sustainable to redo old requests for everyone. But I feel.. idk, weird about it.

I don't make art, so I can't offer advice or anything from that point of view, but from the perspective of someone who has bought art back in the day (granted, 99.9% of the time, it's been online currency only, not rl cash), I feel like it's kind of a given that artist's skills and styles will evolve and improve over time, so it's never bothered me to pay for art and later see an artist having higher quality art.
Not sure if that helps or not though.

I'm going as far as say that back then you were doing the best you could with your art abilities, and it's only natural you improve with practice. So why worry? You were not ripping off any customers - they looked at your samples and liked your style enough to commission you.

Was about to start a custom scale glove order when the person changed their mind on the colors/design they want.
So now I have to place ANOTHER scale order and hope I have enough black because I only ordered enough for the previous colors and design. Or just cave and buy the bulk pack of black scales once my next paycheck. It's kinda pricy, but I wanted to make something that would take a lot of black scales anyway so it would be worth it. It's just frustrating to buy supplies for ine thing just to have the person turn around and go "oh no, I want this instead".

Person with the scale glove order waits until I have bought scales then changes mind and wants their partial payment back.
On the one hand, I'm pissed because I spent almost $50 (over $50 if you include shipping) on scales already, but on the other hand, it takes a lot of pressure off me as now the only custom order I have are the cat plushies, 1 of which is almost done, and those don't really have a rushed deadline, though I am going to try to get them done this month. Or by Christmas at the latest. Plus I can use those scales for other gloves to sell on etsy or in the gift shop at the museum. Or for other custom orders later on. Or for a project for myself, idk.

I feel like I'm constantly behind on/in everything. XD
But this weekend I started to pick up my bedroom some and am about halfway to turning my computer desk into a nail art space instead. Eventually I want to upgrade it to a better, possibly less bulky desk, but until then I need to start actually making an effort to utilize my space better. Should have worked on the cat plushies order but...*shrug* it'll get done eventually.
